The Season of Giving
The holidays are widely regarded as the season of giving and Union Mission was overwhelmed by the community’s generosity and support on Giving Tuesday to remodel 4 bathrooms at The Magdalene Project, a 20-bed emergency shelter for homeless women and their children. So many individuals and churches reached out to Union Mission to make a contribution to help us reach our goal of $8,000.
Thanks to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation with the support of Sodexo, Union Mission served over 600 meals this holiday season to local families and individuals in need. Union Mission was also able to partner with multiple business, churches, and community members to provide Christmas gifts to 112 children across our programs. And, with the generous support of SCAD, Infinity, Savannah State University, First African Baptist Church and many other anonymous Secret Santa participants, Union Mission was able to provide holiday gifts to an additional 10 mothers at the Magdalene Project, as well as to 14 formally homeless women with either a mental health and/or physical disability that reside at Ben and Bettye Barnes Center.
