The Peter Brasseler Dental Center provides oral healthcare/dental services to homeless, uninsured & underinsured patients. Services offered are: exams (routine and emergency), x-rays, cleanings, periodontal therapy, oral health education and screening, extractions, oral surgery, restorations, and dentures. 

2008 results

  • Served 946 individuals
  • Responded to 2,090 encounters
  • Diverted 279 emergency room visits

Only 53 percent of homeless individuals who have no teeth have a set of dentures.

Over 80 percent of homeless persons have not had their teeth cleaned in the previous 4 - 5 years.

Over 95 percent of homeless children 5-9 years old need dental care with 45 percent of those children experiencing pain or infection.
