Parent & Child Services
Parent & Child Services are designed to work in partnership with families to protect, nurture and enrich the lives of children and adults. Family Services offers an array of quality services to assist families, children and adolescents in reaching their full potential by promoting pro-social behavior, resiliency and protective factors. Program services include and are not limited to the provision of:
- Psychiatric Services / Medication Management

Family Services is housed at what once was Parent & Child Development Services on 54th Street. The program also provides services and operates an office at the United Way building in Effingham County.

2007 Results (Chatham County)
- 806 adults were court referred to participate Family Violence Intervention Program or Anger Management Classes.
- 176 adults attending anger management classes.
- 88 children and adolescents received behavioral health services.
- 114 female victims of domestic violence benefited from counseling provided through the Women's Empowerment Program.
- 647 adults learned how to minimize the impact of divorce on their children by attending the Children and Divorce Seminar.
- 82 families were served through the Supervised Visitation Center with 47% of the children obtaining permanency.
- Parent & Child Service's diversion programs saved the taxpayers of Chatham County $7,347,450. First time offenders were given the option to participate in the diversion program instead of being incarcerated. This rate was compiled by multiplying the Georiga Department of Correction's daily boarding rate of $50 by 180 days (6-months.)
2007 Results (Effigham County)
- 143 families were serviced through the family counseling program.
- 129 adults participated in our court diversion programs such as the Anger Management Class or the Family Violence Intervention Program.
- 56 children and adolescents received behavioral health services.
- 48 women victims of domestic violence benefited from Women’s Empowerment Project.
- 183 adults learned how to decrease the impact of divorce on their children through attending Children and Divorce Seminar.
- 42 Parents completed parenting classes.
- During 2007, the Rincon office served 730 persons from rural areas that were in need of services.
- Parent and Child Services diversion programs saved the taxpayers of Effingham County $1,180,350.
