UNION MISSION, INC.
Savannah Area Behavioral Health Collaborative
(SABHC)

Through its partnership in the Savannah Area Behavioral Health Collaborative (SABHC), Union Mission provides adult behavioral health services to those deemed most in need in the community including homeless persons residing in Union Mission facilities.  Behavioral health programs include psychiatric services, medication management, mental health and addictive disorders day treatment, group therapy, community support services, and residential services.  The other members of SABHC are Memorial Health University Medical Center and The Chatham- Savannah Authority for the Homeless.

In 2007 SABHC Behavioral Health served 3,681 persons, providing 66,676 encounters.  The goal of SABHC is to help the individual achieve his or her highest level of functioning to be able to participate in society as a productive member.  SABHC has received many calls and letters of appreciation from consumers and families who have achieved levels that were never thought possible.

SABHC's long-awaited move into a state of the art Behavioral Health Center on the Union Mission campus was realized in July 2007, locating both mental health and substance abuse programs into one facility.  The combined behavioral health programs in conjunction with the J. C. Lewis primary health care facility will give Union Mission the ability to address an individual's physical, mental and social needs in a single, integrated campus.

Through SABHC, Union Mission also manages four mental health group homes with a combined total of 37 beds: Miller House, Hamilton House, Donnelly House and Habersham House.  A total of 48 consumers resided in the group homes in 2007.
